Sri Parthasarathy Temple |
parthasarathy Temple is 8-century Hindu Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, which is located in Triplicane, Chennai, India. This is one of the 108 divyadesams or holy abodes of Lord Vishnu. The "Parthasarathy," name in Sanskrit means "rider and Arjuna", and Lord Krishna is worshiped in that role in this temple.
It was built by Pallavas in the eighth century by King Narasimhavarman I. One of the distinguishing features is that it has four incarnations or avatars of Vishnu, Narasimha, Rama, Krishna and Varaha.
The temple is one of the oldest structures in Chennai . There are shrines of Sri Vedhavalli Thaya, Sri Ranganatha, Sri Rama, Sri Gajendra Varadharaja Swamy, Narasimha, Sri Andal, Sri Anjaneya, Alwar, Ramanujan, and Swami Manavala Mamunigal Vedanthachariar. There are separate entrances to Lord Narasimha and Lord Parthasarathy. Gopuram (tower) and mandaps (columns) are decorated with elaborate carvings [edit], a standard feature of South Indian temple architecture.
Prasadam:
Almost every day, the devotees were treated prasadam (offering to God) is composed of chakra Pongal (South Indian delicacy made sweet jaggery, pulses and rice), and Puliyodarai Thaya Sadam (rice, yogurt / curd). A tasty prasadam makes devotees fill the heart with happiness.
Darshan, Sevas and Festivals:
The temple follows the traditions of the Vaishnava sect of the tradition and follow Thenkalai vaikanasa aagama. The temple is Sri Parthasarathy Swami brahmotsavams great during the Tamil month of chitta (April-May), the same month Udayavar uthsavam is also celebrated in a special month manner.In vaigasi, Sri Varadarajar uthsavam, Sri Nammalwar uthsavam (vaigasi-visagam ) and vasanthothsavam celebrated. Sri Azhagiyasingar during the Tamil month of Sound (June-July). Even great utsavams Sri Ramanujan (April-May) and Sri Manavalamamunigal (OCT-November), as well as for utsavams Alwar and acharyas. Ekadesi sleep even during the Tamil month of Margazhi pay a lot of pilgrims.
