Meenakshi Amman Temple -Madurai


         Meenakshi Temple Meenakshi Amman temple or Sundareswarar  is located in an ancient Hindu temple in the holy city of Madurai, India. It is dedicated to the god Shiva - known here as Belle Sundareswarar or the Lord and his wife, Parvati, who is known by the name of Meenakshi. The temple is the heart and lifeline of the city of 2500 years of Madurai. The complex has 14 magnificent Gopurams or towers, including two gold Gopurams main deities, which are carved and painted to show the skills of architecture and sculpture of ancient India sthapathis. The temple is an important symbol for the Tamil people, and has been mentioned since antiquity in Tamil literature, although the present structure is believed to have been built in 1600. The highest tower of the temple is 51.9 meters (170 feet) high.

FESTIVAL:
Meenakshi Amman Temple -Madurai

       The most important festivals associated with the Meenakshi temple is the Thirukalyanam (divine marriage Meenkashi) which is celebrated every year in April. During this month the period within which most of the temples of Tamil Nadu celebrate their annual festivals, there are a number of events, such as a Thiruvizhah (Chariot festival) and Theppa Thiruvizhah (float festival) is celebrated. In addition, a great Hindu festivals as Navrathri, Shivrathri celebrated in grand style. Like most Shakti temples in Tamil Nadu, on Friday during the Tamil month of Aadi (July 15 to Aug17). Every month or so of the festival takes place in the Tamil temple as Aavani Urchavam, Maarghazi Urchavam, Navaraathri, etc. As Meenakshi Thirukalyanam Festival, Avani Moola Utsavam is also an important an important festival of Meenakshi Amman Temple.

Sri Parthasarathy Temple

       parthasarathy Temple is 8-century Hindu Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, which is located in Triplicane, Chennai, India. This is one of the 108 divyadesams or holy abodes of Lord Vishnu. The "Parthasarathy," name in Sanskrit means "rider and Arjuna", and Lord Krishna is worshiped in that role in this temple.
 
       It was built by Pallavas in the eighth century by King Narasimhavarman I. One of the distinguishing features is that it has four incarnations or avatars of Vishnu, Narasimha, Rama, Krishna and Varaha.

     The temple is one of the oldest structures in Chennai . There are shrines of Sri Vedhavalli Thaya, Sri Ranganatha, Sri Rama, Sri Gajendra Varadharaja Swamy, Narasimha, Sri Andal, Sri Anjaneya, Alwar, Ramanujan, and Swami Manavala Mamunigal Vedanthachariar. There are separate entrances to Lord Narasimha and Lord Parthasarathy. Gopuram (tower) and mandaps (columns) are decorated with elaborate carvings [edit], a standard feature of South Indian temple architecture.

Prasadam:
                     Almost every day, the devotees were treated prasadam (offering to God) is composed of chakra Pongal (South Indian delicacy made sweet jaggery, pulses and rice), and Puliyodarai Thaya Sadam (rice, yogurt / curd). A tasty prasadam makes devotees fill the heart with happiness.


Darshan, Sevas and Festivals:

                                                                            The temple follows the traditions of the Vaishnava sect of the tradition and follow Thenkalai vaikanasa aagama. The temple is Sri Parthasarathy Swami brahmotsavams great during the Tamil month of chitta (April-May), the same month Udayavar uthsavam is also celebrated in a special month manner.In vaigasi, Sri Varadarajar uthsavam, Sri Nammalwar uthsavam (vaigasi-visagam ) and vasanthothsavam celebrated. Sri Azhagiyasingar during the Tamil month of Sound (June-July). Even great utsavams Sri Ramanujan (April-May) and Sri Manavalamamunigal (OCT-November), as well as for utsavams Alwar and acharyas. Ekadesi sleep even during the Tamil month of Margazhi pay a lot of pilgrims.

   The golden temple of Sripuram (Tamil: ஸ்ரீபுரம்) is a spiritual park situated at the foot of a little range of green hills in a place known as "Malaikodi" in the city of Vellore in Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is at the southern end of the city of Vellore, at Tirumalaikodi.
     The salient feature of Sripuram is the Lakshmi  Narayani or Mahalakshmi temple whose 'Vimanam’ and ‘Ardha Mandapam’ have been coated with gold. 

        The temple is located on 100 acres of land and has been constructed by Vellore-based Sri Narayani Peedam, headed by spiritual leader Sri Sakthi Amma also known as Narayani Amma. The temple with gold covering, has intricate carvings and sculptures in gold. The lighting is arranged in such a way that the temple glitters even during night. The construction of the temple was completed on 24th Aug ,2007. More than 1500 kg of gold was used to build this temple. The LED lighting on the ridge of the roof of the star path is lit up at night so that flights operating in that direction can witness a star on the earth. This temple is the world number one temple.

          Sripuram-Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple is the Biggest Golden temple in the world, with over 1500 kg of gold used. All the gold work was done by artisans specializing in temple art using gold. Every single detail was manually created, including converting the gold chunks into gold foils and then mounting on the gold foils on copper. Gold foil from Nine layers to Fifteen layers has been mounted on the etched copper plates.

  Srirangam actual Tamil name is Thiruvarangam is an island and a part of the city of Tiruchirapalli (also known as Trichy or Tiruchi), in South India.

    Srirangam is famous for its Sri Ranganatha swamy Templ Hinduse , a major pilgrimage destination for and one of the largest temple complexes in the world Srirangam is the foremost of the eight self-manifested shrines (Swayam Vyakta Kshetras) of Lord Vishnu . It is also considered the first, foremost and the most important of the 108 main Vishnu temples (Divyadesams). This temple is also known as Thiruvaranga Tirupati, Periyakoil, Bhoologa Vaikundam, Bhogamandabam.
            The vimana of srirangam temple originally came out of “paarkadal” with the powers of Brahma dava (One of the three main Gods of Hinduism). The incarnation of lord Vishnu called Ramavathara has performed poojas to this vimana. As a symbol of love he gifted this vimana to Vibishana (brother of Ravana) to take back with him to Sri Lanka. There was a condition that he could not set the vimana on earth and if he did it would set itself permanently. Vibishna took this vimana and was traveling towards Sri Lanka, and came upon the banks of the river Cauvery. Tired from his long travel, he wanted to bathe in the river. Lord Vinayaka posing as a young kid, plays a trick on him and sets the vimana on the ground where it sets permanently creating the central shrine for the temple at srirangam, on the banks of river cauvery. 
  
         Due to the famous temple, Srirangam has a thriving economy based on tourism. Devotees come from all parts of India and abroad. The number of devotees to the town increases greatly during the festivals like Vaikunda Ekadashi which falls on the Tamil month of Marghazi (Margashirsha).Thiruvarangam is one of the few temples which is always being crowded by devotees.
